All Durgee students are invited to participate in our Reader's Challenge program - an alternative to a more traditional book club. Each month, students are challenged to read a book from a specific category. After reading the book, they're invited to attend the café event, held on the last Friday of each month.
During our café events, students eat snacks (of course there's snacks!) and complete a fun makerspace project connected to the challenge theme.
This year's monthly challenges are as follows:
September - Reader's choice
October - Read a book about a crime
November - Read a book written by a Native American
December - Read a book about a person's fight for dignity, freedom or justice
January - Read a book about a person's fight for dignity, freedom or justice
February - Read a romance
March - Read a book written by a female author
April - Read a book with an autistic character
May - Read a comic book/graphic novel
